We are 2/3rds of the way through our trip, but less than halfway to our fundraising goal. It’s time to change that!
Help us meet our goal by matching our mileage this upcoming Sunday during which we plan to paddle for our longest day of the trip.
Match us at a dollar a mile (or more) by pledging your support in the comments below.
Or, if you think we're crazy, we'll bet you $80 (or a sum of your choice, total amongst all bettors not to exceed $1000) that we can do at least 80 miles in one day.
Okay, okay, the details:
We’re counting miles midnight to midnight.
Today, in 12 hours, 6am-6pm, we went 58 miles.
This is south of the Ohio River confluence.
We don’t expect to encounter any locks, dams, or other rivers that might change the paddling conditions.
The current river gage forecast at Caruthersville (near our starting point) shows the river low and getting lower.
We’ll be sharing our GPS log in a future post to prove our miles.
Comment on this post with your match pledge or bet to participate. We’ll be taking a short day on Tuesday to recover while also partnering with Memphis River Expeditions to share the river with kids from Grenada and Montgomery counties.
We are in for $1 per mile. Great job so far--I'm sure you'll get to 80!
Ruffos in for $1 a mile! Thank you for what you are doing. Keep on paddling!
